B&W Tek Inc. has announced the BWC-SLD-1D, a 1300-nm superluminescent diode broadband light source. It offers a FWHM bandwidth broader than 100 nm, output of up to 10 mW and ripple of <0.2 dB. It comes with an embedded isolator and a high-precision controller to protect against fiber backreflection and to provide stable output. Exhibiting a quasi-Gaussian spectrum, the device is suitable for optical coherence tomography.
