The iC-WKM laser driver from iC-Haus GmbH, available as an SO-8 package, features current capacity of up to 350 mA and supply voltage of up to 15 V. It is optimized for M-type laser diodes and permits safe CW operation with blue laser diodes from a single supply, with the diode case grounded. The driver protects against reverse polarity and transients in the power supply, damage caused by electrostatic discharge, and excessive temperature and overcurrent. Power is preset via a resistor, and monitor current is controlled with better than 3% accuracy. A high-speed lockout system is activated in the event of a disturbance.
