Exalos AG has released a line of superluminescent LEDs for applications that require high power density. The EXS8010-8411 and the EXS8310-8411 are broadband instruments for fiber optic telecommunications, instrumentation, optical coherence tomography, fiber optic gyroscope and structural sensors applications. They provide 2 mW, typical, of optical output power in a single-mode fiber and up to 10 mW for nonpigtailed devices. The LEDs operate with a center wavelength within the 800- to 830-nm spectral ranges, and are supplied in a TO-56 housing with multimode and polarization-maintaining fiber pigtails.
