MULTIMETER General Photonics Corp. has released the PolaChex PDL/IL/DOP multimeter, which it says can measure polarization-dependent and insertion losses, optical power and degree of polarization of any device under test in less than a second. The multimeter systematically searches for the maximum and minimum transmission to ensure measurement accuracy at all times, and it can be used for devices with both high and low PDL and SOP values. It can be used over the 1260- to 1650-nm wavelength range without wavelength calibration, and it includes an RS-232 remote interface for PC control. The instrument is suitable for the characterization of DWDM components as well as for other passive devices in manufacturing environments and laboratories.
