OPTICAL MICROMETER Keyence Corp. of America has introduced the LS-7010 optical micrometer system, which provides 0.01-µm resolution with a repeatability of ±0.06 µm. It samples 2400 targets per second and incorporates a high-intensity, low-noise GaN LED to produce a continuous 6-mm-wide beam with no gaps in target detection due to beam scanning. Features include a telecentric optical system, IP64-rated construction and a CMOS camera mounted in the receiver head. The device is suitable for in-line diameter monitoring and production control of fine wire, fiber optic filaments, small-diameter tubing and transparent glass fibers.
