DIODE LASER STACKS Coherent Inc. has released the LightStack family of high-power diode laser stacks. Featuring the 80-W LightStone, which is based on the industry-standard, macrochannel-cooled platform, the lasers are designed for pumping and direct-diode applications that require kilowatts of CW or quasi-CW power in a compact package. Their aluminum-free active area design increases laser life. They are available at 808 and 940 nm, with power levels of up to 1200 W in CW and 1500 W quasi-CW. Configurations of one to 10 bars stacked horizontally or up to 15 bars stacked vertically are offered, with custom options available.
