Sensoray has released the model 2411 still-image video server, a stack of PC/104+ boards that are programmed to capture single frames from composite sources such as radar, ultrasonic sources and video cameras. Either a software command or an external switch can trigger frame capture, and stored images can be compressed by a jpeg function before they are downloaded via the Ethernet port and/or stored in internal memory. Typical compression factors are 20:1. The system is programmed with an FTP server to facilitate image transfer to a remote computer and to download custom application programs.
