Lambda Research Corp. is offering version 3.3 of its TracePro 3-D virtual prototyping software for the design and analysis of optical or illumination systems. Featuring an enhanced RepTile algorithm that simulates repetitive surface features, it is suitable for designing backlights used in flat panel displays. The software includes Spatial Corp.'s ACIS R14 solid modeling kernel and upgraded property editors for bulk scatter, gradient index, thin-film stacks and RepTile properties. Updates in the nonray-splitting mode, in irradiance/illuminance maps, in squared energy irradiance viewing, and in the ray-selection criteria for irradiance and candela maps are included.
