Optronics has introduced three-pass color imaging technology for use with its line of monochrome cameras. The technology incorporates a GUI in the PictureFrame software application that controls the CRI Macro-Color tunable liquid crystal RGB filter. Three exposures can be taken and automatically combined to generate a high-resolution RGB color image, providing full-CCD pixel use and co-site-sampled RGB resolution. Integration of the filter control within the software enables automated RGB color acquisition without the need to manually move a filter slider. The filter assembly is located away from the focal plane to eliminate image artifacts and imperfections. The mounting mechanism enables the filter to be removed so that the cameras can be used in 12-bit quantitative monochrome mode.
