All-dielectric edge filters with broad-band blocking have been introduced by mso jena GmbH. The multilayer coatings on a single substrate provide high optical densities over stopbands between 350 and 1100 nm. The company says that the coatings, applied by plasma ion-assisted deposition, provide environmental stability and shift-free performance, increasing the choice of substrate material and thickness. Typical parameters include transmittance >90% in the passband and optical density >5 in the stopband. Cut-on or -off wavelengths can be adjusted.
