OCT LIGHT SOURCE NP Photonics has introduced the Scorpion 1-µm ASE broadband light source for optical coherence tomography applications in high-resolution ophthalmology and soft tissue imaging. Incorporating the company's fiber technology, the source delivers >25 mW and has a bandwidth of >65 nm centered at 1030 nm. The output beam emitted from a single-mode, rare-earth-doped fiber with a 0.14 NA exhibits a high-quality, single-mode transverse beam profile. The light source features a coherence length of 9 µm in air and <7 µm in tissue, low noise and >20 dB optical isolation.
