The Fitel S121S fusion splicer developed by Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd. features a compact canopy that reduces the fiber length required by 50%. The handheld device shortens the required fiber length on one side from 70 to 35 mm, making it suitable for FTTx and LAN installations. It provides data storage, including estimation loss information, inspection results and the dates for up to 1000 splices. The information can be transferred to a computer via a DC adapter.
