BALLISTIC-RANGE CAMERA The compact SIR ballistic-range camera released by Specialised Imaging Ltd. is packaged in a sealed unit that offers IP54 standard protection against rain and humidity. The high-gain-system model is suitable for use in low-light applications, and the high-resolution version has a 2048 × 2048-pixel 12-bit CCD sensor optically coupled to a microchannel-plate intensifier. Exposure times down to 20 ns enable capture and analysis of the fastest projectiles, either as single or as up to 16 independently controlled superimposed images. An integral thin-film-transistor display shows real-time images from the sensor, enabling users to optimize focus and lighting conditions. All imaging functions can be controlled from the keypad for camera setup, and a standard Ethernet network provides full remote operation.
