MORGANVILLE, N.J., April 1 -- Production performance is now available in field environments with Krell Technologies' Proton field polisher, designed for all field networks, including fiber-to-the-premises/home (FTTX), LAN, CATV and shipboard/aircraft military applications. Although it is portable and battery operated, Proton consistently achieves
single-mode UPC and APC finishes, Krell said. It supports all connector types, has battery/AC operation and is Telcordia compliant.

Proton incorporates the same independent suspension (IS) and optically aligned work holder design found in Krell’s mass production Icon and Scepter polishing systems.

The company said Proton was conceived for true handheld operation. Connectors can be loaded, polishing pressure set and films changed out without the need for a table, workbench or external support. Proton can polish connectors sideways and at most orientations, permitting access to cabling in the tight confines of wire closets, cross-connects and fiber nodes.
