For CATV ApplicationsPITTSTOWN, N.J., April 15 -- Keopsys has introduced high-power optical fiber amplifiers for CATV applications. A high-output power of 31 dBm can be delivered on 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 or 16 ports, allowing cable TV providers to service larger networks with substantial cost savings per subscriber. CATV amplifiers with 8 by 20 dBm output ports or 16 by 17 dBm output ports are available for system deployment.
These compact (200 by 120 by 2 5mm3) optical amplifiers are based on the use of double-clad fibers. Using Keopsys’s VSP3000 proprietary pumping technology, these amplifiers offer reliability over an extended operating temperature range. In addition, their optical configuration enables low noise figure while preserving the quality of the analog signal.
The OEM modules include embedded electronics with full control of the optical amplifier in ACC and APC modes. An RS232 computer interface and analog monitoring outputs are standard features.
Standard modules are now available, and custom versions can be engineered to systems requirements.
Keopsys will exhibit at CLEO/QELS 2005, to be held May 24-26 in Baltimore, Md.
