Special Application Products Ltd. has unveiled the DS-3USV, a video microscope with 800 × 600 resolution. It is suitable for laboratory use in quality-control and scientific-measurement applications. When combined with a laptop computer via the USB 2.0 interface, the unit can be used as a field instrument. It features a color CMOS sensor with 480k pixels and a single, wide-ranging lens with a zoom function from 1× to 300×. The compact microscope measures 148 × 65 × 66 mm and has easy-to-use measurement software, an external freeze switch, diffusion filters and a black-and-white specimen disk.
