Spectro Genesis is a simultaneous CCD induction-coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometer for elemental analysis in environmental applications including wastewater, soil, sewage sludge and filter dust. Available from Spectro Analytical Instruments Inc., it offers unsupervised analysis of large numbers of samples. Included are a sample introduction system suitable for the application, a copy of the method with extensive documentation and a sample preparation guideline. The excitation source is a computer-controlled generator that operates at 27.12 MHz with an output of 0.7 to 1.7 kW and that features automatic plasma ignition. The optical system has 15 linear CCD arrays, covering from 175 to 777 nm, and can be purged with argon or nitrogen for measurements in the UV range.
