Leybold Optics GmbH has introduced DLCcs, its diamondlike carbon coating system for far-IR antireflection applications. It produces diamondlike hard carbon V-AR coatings on germanium substrates that not only protect the exposed surfaces of the substrates, but also increase infrared transmittance. The system is based on proven process technology and on the chamber geometry of the Z550 VZK. Supplied with a modern frame and pumping, and with state-of-the-art control technology, it enables controllable and stable automatic coating processes.
