LINEAR FOCUS ACTUATOR To provide OEMs with a way to meet the high-performance translation requirements of many optical systems, Equipment Solutions Inc. has released the LFA-10 linear focus actuator. Patented through-hole architecture directs the optical path up the middle of the motor's 20-mm-diameter cavity. An annular stage with 10 mm of motion has a standard C-mount for integration of an optic. The balanced load enables a 500-µm step to be executed and settled in <2 ms. The motor's low inductance and resistance produce accelerations of as high as 100 g. An integrated analog or digital quadrature sensor provides position feedback.
