CHEMICAL ID SYSTEM The First Defender system developed by Ahura Corp. is a handheld Raman spectroscopy instrument for use by first responders, soldiers, law enforcement officers and security personnel to identify unknown liquids and solids on-site. The all-optical system identifies potentially hazardous materials such as toxic industrial chemicals, explosives, chemical warfare agents and narcotics. Rugged and waterproof, it weighs <3 lb, including the battery and internal computer, and operates from −20 to 40 °C. Battery life is 5 h, and start-up time is 15 s from a cold start to first measurement.
