The G9735-14 receiver optical subassembly launched by Hamamatsu Corp. combines a GaAs PIN photodiode and a preamplifier in a 1.25-mm-diameter sleeve. Operating at 850 nm, it offers typical response time of 4.25 Gb/s, optical return loss of 13.5 dB, dark current of 0.05 nA, transimpedance of 1.0 k(omega) and sensitivity between 2 and −22 dBm. Output impedance is 50 (omega), typical, and noise equivalent power, 660 nW rms. The device was developed for optical fiber communications and design into fiber channel applications.
