FO SPECTROMETERS High-resolution fiber optic spectrometers for use in the near-IR, from 0.9 to 1.7 µm and 1.5 to 2.2 µm, are offered by StellarNet Inc. Containing no moving optical parts, the miniature, portable devices connect to a PC via USB 2 or a parallel port. The InGaAs detectors are photodiode arrays with 512 or 1024 elements and are TE-cooled. The pixels measure 25 × 500 µm and produce high sensitivity. A 2.5-MHz digitizer acquires near-IR spectra in 1 ms. An optional lithium-ion battery enables operation for up to 6 h with the cooler enabled to operate at −10 °C. SpectraWiz software provides measurements for chemical analysis.
