Cognex Corp. has released software that enables direct connection of FireWire cameras to its PC vision systems. The company says that the software simplifies integration, expands acquisition options and provides high-quality digital images without requiring a frame grabber. The FireWire systems use the same application development software, vision tools and acquisition engine as the company's other PC vision systems and are optimized for the high speed that is needed for machine vision applications. The software supports cameras made by AVT, Basler, Point Grey and others that adhere to the DCAM 1.3 specification.
