The SQ-115C Squiggler piezoelectric motor from New Scale Technologies Inc. is now operable from room temperature down to >4 K. The device is available in a metal housing for fast integration into systems or without a housing for space-restricted applications. It is applicable for infrared imaging, where the optics move out of alignment as the camera temperature changes. Because it adjusts optical alignment continuously, the camera be focused at room temperature and maintain focus as it cools. Other applications include basic materials research at cryogenic temperatures and research sample manipulation and positioning.
