PHOTOVOLTAIC DETECTORS The PVI-2TE series photovoltaic detectors produced by Vigo Systems SA operate in the 2- to 12-mm spectral range. Their architecture is based on 3-D heterostructures in HgCdTe compounds to produce thermoelectrically cooled instruments that exhibit high sensitivity. The detectors have up to 1-GHz bandwidths and are suitable for thermal imagers and scanners, and for quantum cascade laser radiation detectors. Custom devices built around user-specified spectral characteristics, active areas, windows and filters are available. They can be supplied assembled on heat sinks, or integrated with transimpedance preamplifiers and thermoelectric cooler controllers.
