BARRINGTON, N.J., Nov. 30 -- Edmund Industrial Optics (EO) has released new fluorescent US Air Force (USAF) resolution targets. Fluorescent USAF 1951 resolution targets are designed for calibrating the optics of systems that use ultraviolet UV) illumination, such as fluorescent microscopes, confocal microscopes and UV-based imaging systems and instruments used for photolithography, nanotechnology and biomedical applications.

The targets are made of fused silica and reflective chrome. Both positive and negative patterns are available. The positive target has chrome pattern over a clear background with the fluorescent material on the front surface. The negative target has a clear pattern with chrome background and fluorescent material on the back surface. When UV light illuminates the target, the material fluoresces in the visible. The materials peak absorption and emission wavelengths are 365 nm and 550 nm, respectively.
