FLUOROSPECTROMETER The ND-3300 from NanoDrop Technologies Inc. enables the full-spectrum fluorescence analysis of 1- to 2-μl samples without the need for cuvettes or capillaries, with applications in microgenomics, proteomics and drug discovery. The fluorospectrometer uses surface tension to hold samples in place for analysis on a fiber optic measurement surface. Excitation sources include white, blue and ultraviolet LEDs, so no filter changes are necessary. Preconfigured software readies the instrument for common assays, and a method editor offers the user the ability to configure the fluorospectrometer for custom fluorescent applications. The company says that the system can measure as little as 2 pg of dsDNA in a 2-μl PicoGreen assay.
