For Owners of Laser Science Model 337NDMELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 28 -- Laser manufacturer Elk Industries has introduced a new line, the Abalase series of nitrogen lasers and form-fit replacement cartridges which retrofit entire nitrogen laser cavities. The series is designed for owners of a particular Laser Science nitrogen laser and a series of dye liquid lasers. "These advanced innovated upgrades are, at least partially, intended to address the growing need for nitrogen laser replacement cartridges and nitrogen lasers brought about by the apparent non-servicability of the Laser Science Model 337ND," said Robin Elkins, owner of Elk Industries. (Laser Science is owned by Spectra-Physics, which was bought by Newport Corp. in July 2004.)
"We were appalled by the lack of support and options available to the large number of Laser Science Model 337ND and other nitrogen laser owners, as more and more of their lasers are beginning to deteriorate and require proper and high-quality service," Elkins added. He says while the demand for nitrogen lasers for analytical chemistry applications continues to grow, "There have been essentially no industrial or commercial support or service options for these nitrogen laser owners, or for prospective owners."
The Abalase laser series is currently available to owners of Laser Science Model 337ND and Laser Science dye liquid lasers, along with the solid-state dye OEM laser accessory, Model 90, which has been available from Elk Industries and the R-K manufacturing division since 1990, Elkins said.
