Big Sky Laser Technologies has launched a dual-pulsed Nd:YAG laser system for use in particle image velocimetry (PIV). The Ultra PIV 180 outputs two collinear 180-mJ pulses at 532 nm, up to 15 Hz. The lasers, based on a proprietary compact folded resonator design, are guaranteed against misalignment. The output beams are uniform for efficient illumination and reliability of delivery optics. The system can be fitted with a switchable UV option (355 or 266 nm). The lasers can operate in harsh conditions and over a wide temperature range, and come with two power supplies weighing <30 lb each.
