PETAH-TIKVA, Israel, Dec. 15 -- Civcom, a manufacturer of optoelectronic components and subsystems, has introduced a Free-Light Compact (only 3.34 by 2.87 by 0.53 inches) high-performance, long-reach 10 Gb/s tunable transponder that provides optical data transport technology for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) applications.
Compliant with 300-pin MSA specifications, the Free-Light Compact contains both a 10 Gb/s widely tunable transmitter and a wide band receiver that provides flexibility and support for both C and L-bands. Civcom said it was designed with efficient use of network space in mind.
The Free-Light family of widely tunable transponders is designed for optical transport and DWDM applications. Free-Light transponders are designed to be compliant with the 300-pin multisource agreement and contain both a 10 Gb/s widely tunable transmitter and a fixed receiver.
The Free-Light line has two configurations: a standard 10 Gb/s tunable transponder and a tunable transponder integrated with tunable optical dispersion compensator for an extended range. The products also includes the Atlas, an automated test and evaluation platform for universal (fixed, narrow and widely tunable) 300-pin MSA transponders.
