Optical Research Associates (ORA) has released Code V version 9.6 for optical system modeling, tolerancing and optimization. The upgrade calculates the scalar diffraction efficiency of a diffractive surface and includes it in all diffraction analyses. A simplified method for defining offset, tilted surfaces, and enhanced capabilities for specifying user-programmed surfaces and diffractive phase profiles improve the process for modeling complex optical systems. For tolerancing, a singular value decomposition algorithm automatically selects the best subset of available compensation parameters, and data is more easily exported to other software programs for manipulation and analysis.
