PHOTOTRANSISTORS Optek Technology has developed a series of negative-positive-negative silicon phototransistors in 1206-chip packages. The OP520/OP521 series miniaturized surface-mount devices perform infrared detection in sensing applications, with response times of 15 µs and peak response to 880-nm light. Both devices are packaged with a flat molded lens. The OP520 has an opaque lens to shield it from ambient light, and the OP521 has a water-clear one for a wider response range. Electrical performance is characterized at collector-emitter voltage of 30 V, emitter-collector voltage of 5 V, collector current of 20 mA and power dissipation of 75 mW at 25 °C. Operating temperature is from −25 to 85 °C.
