MICROCHIP LASERS Alphalas GmbH has added two models to its Pulselas-P series passively Q-switched microchip lasers. The Pulselas-P-1064-400-HP delivers pulse energy of up to 0.4 mJ with a 1-ns pulse length and peak power of 400 kW. The Pulselas-P-1064-150-HE delivers pulse energy of up to 1.6 mJ with a 1.1-ns pulse length and peak power of 1.5 MW. Both operate at repetition rates of up to 200 Hz. The laser crystal, the passive Q-switch and the laser mirrors are combined into a monolithic chip for increased stability. Applications include materials processing, micromachining, marking and cutting of hard materials, nonlinear optics and supercontinuum generation.
