Interfire-II 3-5, a Twyman-Green unequal path interferometer from Precision-Optical Engineering, operates in the mid-IR from 3 to 5 μm using a 3.39-μm HeNe laser. Other lasers are available for different wavelengths. The instrument can be used in development, test or production laboratories for the accurate measurement of wavefront aberration of thermal imaging lenses, optical homogeneity of infrared materials and flatness of surfaces. Measuring 675 × 260 × 280 mm and weighing ~30 kg, it features a focal plane array camera and a 35-mm clear aperture that is expandable via accessories. Its design and fast warm-up time enable fringe images to be obtained quickly, with a good signal-to-noise ratio and no focus drift.
