General Photonics Corp. has introduced an instrument that functions as a polarization state generator, analyzer and scrambler. PolaFlex is a turnkey device that generates and maintains any state of polarization, regardless of the input state. It comprises a polarization controller, an inline polarimeter and a control algorithm. The generated state of polarization and the corresponding Poincaré sphere can be displayed on a computer screen via the USB interface. To generate a state of polarization, the user can input the corresponding Stokes parameters via keypad, and the system searches for the desired state and maintains it against input fluctuations. Or the user can scan through six states sequentially for Mueller matrix calculations or select any of the six with the touch of a button.
