COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Feb. 24, 2006 -- Ibsen Photonics, a supplier of holographic phase masks, transmission diffraction gratings and optical spectrometer modules based on diffraction gratings, has released a new USB interfaced, high-resolution version of its I-MON interrogation monitor for fiber Bragg grating (FPG) sensor systems.
The interrogation monitor builds on Ibsen high-resolution spectrometer technology, using Ibsen fused silica transmission gratings. This design platform enables Ibsen's I-MON to offer fast measurement frequency in a compact size with low power consumption, Ibsen said.
I-MON product manager Bjarke Rose said, "So far, we have targeted the I-MON for OEM applications, and our customers have used our developer's kit to test the performance against their FBG sensors. Our customers have expressed an interest in higher resolution, stand-alone monitors with a USB interface for easy setup with a laptop -- a need which we are meeting with this new product."
Ibsen will present its I-MON products at OFC/NFOEC, to be held March 5-10 in Anaheim, Calif.
Ibsen makes phase masks and transmission gratings for a wide variety of telecommunications, sensing and laser markets. It uses its grating technology in its optical spectrometer modules for FBG sensor interrogation systems and in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) networks. The company said it is pursuing partnerships in other industries to expand its high-resolution spectrometer platform based on its pure fused-silica holographic diffraction gratings.
