A line of bandpass filters for use in machine vision systems has been introduced by Jos. Schneider Optische Werke GmbH. The filters attach to a CCD or CMOS camera lens and allow light of their specified transmission wavelength to pass through, blocking wavelengths that are shorter or longer than the passband. Matching the passband of the filter with the emission wavelength of the light source allows vision system operators to reduce noise from ambient light and to optimize image contrast in systems that use advanced LED lighting. Wavelengths from 565 to 680 nm are covered, with bandwidths between 50 and 140 nm. The filters are available in all common thread sizes. Their interference coatings maximize light intensity by allowing >90% transmission.
