For applications such as spectroscopy and optical process control, optical cooling and trapping, absolute distance interferometry, laser and optical parametric oscillator seeding, nonlinear optical processes and characterizing fiber optic systems, Sacher Lasertechnik LLC has unveiled a generation of automatically tunable laser systems in Littman/Metcalf configuration. They offer fine tuning via a piezoactuator with 10-MHz resolution and coarse tuning via a DC servomotor with up to 30 nm at 780 or 830 nm. Their mode-hop-free tuning range is up to 100 GHz. Linewidth is <300 kHz, and side mode suppression is >50 dB. Systems with wavelengths from 760 to 1080 nm are available, as are free-beam and fiber-coupled versions. Remote control is provided by GPIB, RS-232 and USB interfaces.
