The Artic 320 produced by Varioptic is a multimegapixel autofocus liquid lens for use in camera phones. It changes shape automatically without mechanical aid, using electricity to change focus by altering the border between two drops of liquid. Based on proprietary electrowetting technology, the lens has been enhanced to include an increased storage temperature range of –40 to 85 °C and an operating range from –20 to 60 °C. Its miniature size enables it to fit within existing X-Y camera module footprints.
