The EG150 pulse analyzer has been launched by Southern Photonics. It provides results at up to 10 Hz and can characterize the amplitude and phase of any C-band >8-GHz-repetition-rate optical pulse train, as long as an RF sync is available. The device is suitable for use with actively mode-locked lasers, modulated sources, and any passively mode-locked or free-running source with a clock-recovery output. The analyzer also can be integrated with a variety of benchtop optical spectrum analyzers to work with repetitive signals that are weaker than –50 dBm. The linear-spectrogram-based instrument was developed under license from Lucent Technologies.
