Electrophysics Corp. has introduced the Astroscope, a modular night-vision system for the Sony HVR-Z1U high-definition camcorder- performance Gen III image intensifier, among a wide variety of camera platforms, including Canon and Nikon SLR cameras and most popular video camcorders. Astroscope is available with both 64 lp/mm (line pair) and 72 lp/mm Gen III intensifiers. It is now possible to record low-light video approaching the 2000+ line resolution of a typical Gen III (64 lp) intensifier. The Astroscope system is an optomechanical assembly that includes the new Electrophysics 9350 Pocket Scope, a custom relay optic and a fabricated bracket designed to rigidly hold the assembly. The patented Astroscope enables a user to mount a wide variety of lenses onto the night-vision system, including Nikon and Canon SLR lenses and C-mount lenses, delivering flexibility and the ability to conduct nighttime video collection at long distance.
