The FL500 500-mA laser diode driver is produced by Wavelength Electronics Inc. for use with low-power diodes. It also can be configured as two independent 250-mA drivers. The driver operates from 3 to 12 V and is compatible with lithium-ion battery operation and with type A or B laser diodes. Housed in a 12-pin SMT package that measures 0.75 × 0.45 × 0.255 in., it offers brownout and slow-start laser diode protection. It features a voltage-controlled setpoint, a TTL-compatible shutdown pin and a 2-MHz sine wave constant-current bandwidth.
