Northrop Grumman Corp. has expanded its RB line of diode-pumped laser modules with versions that offer higher output powers and increased processing speeds. The RB Plus family of pump modules includes 25-, 35- and 50-W Nd:YLF versions, as well as Nd:YAG versions that produce 75 or 100 W of continuous-wave output with diode bias voltages of 24 or 30 VDC, respectively. The modules are maintenance-free and incorporate a laser rod that is pumped by a radial array of long-life laser diode bars. The company says that they deliver good gain uniformity and lensing performance. Applications include laser marking, micromachining, pumping Ti:sapphire lasers, particle image velocimetry and spectroscopy. Driven by low-voltage electronics, the instruments are cooled by a recirculating water chiller that runs on filtered water.
