AVT_Pike_Guppy.jpgAllied Vision Technologies GmbH has unveiled the Pike series cameras, which use the IEEE-1394b interface. Designed for industrial use, they can be supplied with a copper daisy-chain connection or 1x copper combined with 1x glass optical fiber. The technology is suitable for multicamera situations and makes it possible to use up to 500 m of cable. The cameras are available in five CCD sensor options in both monochrome and color, providing from 640 × 480- to 2048 × 2048-pixel resolutions. Measuring 44 × 44 × 80 mm, they feature 14-bit output, full format 7 support, data rates up to 62.5 Mb/s, integrated image preprocessing functions and 64 Mb of onboard memory with operability similar to frame grabbers.
