Orbits Lightwave Inc. has announced that its patent-pending StableLase technology is available in its Ethernal fiber lasers, providing high stability and low noise under adverse conditions such as temperature cycling, shock and vibration. Based on a patented virtual ring architecture, the lasers operate from 1530 to 1656 nm and offer state-of-the-art signal-to-noise ratios and side-mode suppression, shot-noise-limited relative intensity noise, ultralow frequency modulation noise and good frequency stability with a <1-kHz flicker linewidth. Output powers to 100 mW continuous wave are achieved in a compact package with low power consumption.
