The SteReo Discovery.V8 microscope has been launched by Carl Zeiss MicroImaging GmbH for modular stereomicroscopy, including routine laboratory and industrial applications, as well as for advanced research work. The ergonomic ergotube and intermediate tubes are used to set the viewing angle and height of the microscope, and the stand design results in low sensitivity to vibration and in stable specimen positioning. Features include a zoom range of 8:1, a manual focusing drive with a 340-mm focusing path, and a scratch-resistant work surface. Three objectives are available: Achromat S, which produces high-contrast 3-D images; Plan S, which offers additionally flat and distortion-free object fields; and PlanApo S, which provides increased resolution without color fringes. A number of digital still and video cameras can be attached to the microscope via standard interfaces.
