Scientists, engineers and vision systems designers can make high-accuracy noncontact measurements of small objects with the TML-HP series telecentric lenses from Edmund Optics Inc. The lenses are available in three fixed-focus versions that provide 1×, 2× and 4× magnification and, the company says, offer better image quality and less distortion than conventional fixed-focal-length types, making them suitable for demanding automated metrology applications in on- and off-line production environments. Because telecentric lenses provide fixed magnification throughout their depth of field, they do not cause distortions or measurement uncertainties. Features include large objective lenses for maximum numerical aperture, mounting via ultrastable twin-ring clamps, and front filter threads to accommodate color filters, polarizers, protective windows, and LED or fiber optic ring illuminators.
