With Enhanced Functionality ROSTOCK, Germany, Aug. 21, 2006 -- The PCS-II perceptive color sensor from Silicann Technologies GmbH is now available with enhanced functionality, setting new standards in industrial color processing, the company said.
Besides the well-established color processing modes like "Classify" (recognition of the most similar color taught) and "Check SPH" or "Check CYL" (detection of a taught color within a defined tolerance), it now offers an additional practical-oriented color sequence recognition mode that can be activated in one of those processing modes. All conceivable variants of color sequences, e.g., with cables, can be checked safely by this new feature.
The PCS-II now also estimates color deviations just as humans do. Incorrect color checkings that are possible with typical RGB sensors are eliminated. The interaction of perceptive color processing (e.g., in the color sequence recognition mode) and highly specialized demands of the industry on color sensor technology allows it to better handle applications that previously were difficult to solve, Silicann said.
Scope of delivery is also included in the PCSLib software package. Win-dll function libraries enable immediate integration in automation processes. On the user side, an additional PC-based control of the sensor with standardized programming languages is possible.
By means of a newly implemented master-slave function, several sensors can be run synchronously. One sensor of the joint array is configured as the "master" and provides the modulation step. All other sensors are justified as "slaves" that operate in step with the master. A synchronous functioning of the sensor array is guaranteed and interference of light is excluded. Synchronizing several sensors in master-slave mode meets the complex demands of color recognition in industrial automation.
Silicann said the PCS-II is reasonably priced and absolutely reliable. It will be exhibited at the 26th annual International Trade Fair for Assembly and Handling Technology (MOTEK 2006), to be held Sept. 26-29 in Sinsheim, Germany (Booth 7240, Hall 7).
