StockerYale Inc., a provider of photonics-based products, is offering custom-designed specialty optical fibers for the medical industry.
The company said it is working with OEMs to deliver custom-designed, ultrasmall form-factor single-mode fibers for the medical industry.
Optical fibers being delivered by StockerYale support OEMs that make products for cardiology, angioplasty and medical sensing. A variety of specialty coatings can be applied to these single-mode fibers.
Paul Jortberg, senior vice president of StockerYale's optical components group, said, "The medical devices industry is constantly pushing the boundaries and this has led to many OEM requests for assistance with their optical fiber requirements. Our expertise with single-mode fiber and specialty coatings allows us to develop the ultrasmall form-factor fibers that the industry needs. We anticipate the introduction of products utilizing StockerYale's fiber before the end of the year."
