Rofin-Sinar Laser GmbH has introduced the DC 050, a CO2 slab laser with average output power of 5 kW. The diffusion-cooled laser is suitable for industrial plate and sheet cutting applications. It does not require turbines, and the gas bottle that is used for gas exchange every 72 hours is positioned within the laser head, eliminating the need for an external supply. The k>0.9 laser beam that is produced in the resonator is uncoupled by a diamond window, without loss of power or beam quality. The internal water-cooled mirrors are nonwearing reflective optics.
